SISO Data Client Performance Test Solutions

The Azimuth SISO Data Client Test Solutions enable fully automated range, data rate and roaming performance testing of Single-Input-Single-Output (SISO) Data Clients such as CardBus, MiniPCI, USB and Embedded devices. The available test suites leverage sophisticated motion emulation, automated traffic generation and controlled RF test conditions so that vendors can deliver high performance products to market faster through an easy-to-use, automated testing system that guarantees repeatable test results.

Azimuth’s comprehensive test solutions include controlled environment tests in both static channel and dynamic multipath channel environments. In general, basic functionality and performance interoperability test can be performed in a conducted environment that does not model reflections. Because the performance of SISO product degrades as the number of reflections in the environment increases, complete characterization of product performance requires testing in a dynamic multipath channel

SISO Data Client Performance Test Solution in a Static Channel

The Azimuth SISO Data Client Performance Test Suite in a static channel enables users to:

Measure performance and behavior in a variety of real-life scenarios and under different traffic loads
Test a wide range of 802.11a/b/g clients including CardBus, MiniPCI, USB, and embedded Wi-Fi devices
Accurately measure roaming time, rate adaptation, and performance over range
Identify and resolve critical system design problems that reduce client performance
Reduce test time by through accurate automated benchmarking of client performance in minutes not hours or days
Reproduce accurate results through the use of RadioProof™ enclosures.

The SISO Data Client Performance Test Suite includes the following two suites that test device performance in a controlled static channel environment:

Rate vs. Range (RvR) Benchmark Test Suite – This test suite includes test scripts described below

Range Test – analyzes the behavior of a device as a function of its distance from the Access Point (AP)
Measurement/Plot of performance over range – precisely measures and provides a graphical plot of device performance as it moves farther away from the AP

Roaming Benchmark Test Suite – This test suite includes standard roaming performance test scripts described below

Fail-Over Roaming Test – emulates a scenario where the active access point (AP) disappears abruptly while another AP is available
Smooth Roaming Test – emulates a smooth transition between overlapping Base Station Subsystems (BSSs), precisely controlling overlap.

The SISO Data Client Performance Test Solution in a static channel runs on the W-Series and ADEPT-n scalable system platforms. The W-Series leverages sophisticated motion emulation and traffic generation capability in a completely isolated environment to ensure accurate, repeatable results. Client testing requires use of the Azimuth Station Test Module or a Laptop PC running the Azimuth Wireless Standalone Client application. A standalone W-Series bundle, the VTB-CTS, is an available entry level solution for SISO Data Client Performance testing. The ADEPT-n leverages sophisticated motion emulation in an isolated controlled RF architecture for reliable and repeatable performance as well as interoperability testing of real clients and access points. In addition, the ADEPT-n platform enables functional and protocol analysis testing using advanced built-in capture engines.

The Azimuth SISO Data Client Performance Test Suite in a dynamic multipath channel enables users to:

Thoroughly stress SISO client devices to determine performance and performance limits in a multipath environment
Conduct true mobility testing in a repeatable efficient bench top setup
Reduce test time by enabling accurate automated benchmarking of SISO client performance in minutes not hours or days
Reproduce accurate results through the use of RadioProof™ enclosures.

The SISO Data Client Performance Test Suite in a dynamic multipath channel includes the following suite which tests device performance in a dynamic multipath channel environment:

MIMO Range Benchmark Test Suite for ACE - A standard test script that provides a detailed analysis of data rate, throughput, packet error rate and RSSI of SISO systems in a multipath environment as a function of distance from the Access Point.

The MIMO Range Benchmark Test Suite for ACE utilizes the ACE™400NB Channel Emulator, which emulates a dynamic multipath environment. The tests are performed in completely isolated chambers to ensure accurate, repeatable results.

Test suites in the SISO Data Client Performance Test Solutions that run on the W-Series or ACE 400NB are managed by Azimuth's DIRECTOR™ Test Executive software. Test suites in the SISO Data Client Performance Test Solutions that run on the ADEPT-n are managed by Azimuth's DIRECTOR II Test Executive software. All test results can be easily shared using Azimuth's STUDIO™ Test Data Management software.
