Fixed-Mobile Convergence

Successful delivery of converged services is based on an assumption that wireless IP networks and devices can deliver seamless “Carrier Grade” Quality of Service (QoS) to the customer. Such converged services, based on Wi-Fi technology are designed to deliver IP voice, video and data over the air to a wide array of wireless client devices. End user satisfaction is based on voice quality and battery life expectations and the service providers that consistently meet those expectations will be the market winners.

Azimuth Systems has been working with leading carriers to develop industry standard tests that can prove the performance of dual-mode handsets. Azimuth’s Fixed-Mobile Convergence solutions includes a suite of performance tests that help service providers select the high performance infrastructure and client devices capable of delivering “Carrier-Grade” Wi-Fi converged services to their customers.

The Azimuth Fixed-Mobile Convergence (FMC) Performance Test Solution is a family of tests that provides automated scripts that streamline the testing of FMC handsets and converged wireless devices by carriers, handset manufacturers and semiconductor vendors with handset reference designs. 

The test suites leverage extensive test automation including traffic generation, sophisticated motion emulation and controlled RF test environments to enable accurate and repeatable data and voice performance testing of cellular/Wi-Fi handsets over a broad range of user environments. The tests also leverage the Test Engine methodology used for certification testing of handsets by the Wi-Fi Alliance.

The FMC Performance Test Solution enables users to:

  • Thoroughly analyze the voice quality and data performance of converged Cellular/Wi-Fi handsets in a variety of range, roaming, Hand-in/Hand-out and impairment conditions
