Applications Specialist – WiMAX/4G - Acton, MA
Job Description
Understand the applications for Azimuth’s WiMAX/4G channel emulator product line and provide applications-specific pre and post sales support. Serve as an RF specialist, creating application notes and developing application-specific solutions for Azimuth’s WiMAX/4G portfolio.
Responsibilities Include:
- Working with field applications engineers and customers to understand specific test plans and test applications
- Creating pre-sales solutions material and technical documentation to address customers’ applications
- Working with Azimuth engineering and marketing to help define product feature sets required to address commonly requested applications
- Testing customers’ applications using Azimuth products and third party equipment
- Providing post-sales technical support of WiMAX/4G related applications
- Participating in industry specific forums such as IEEE, WiMAX Forum, and 3GPP in order to understand market needs and how they relate to Azimuth products
- Participating in industry interoperability events and plug-fests as required
Qualifications
- Deep understanding of the PHY layer of wireless data communication standards, such as WiMAX, 3G, 4G technologies, WiFi, etc.
- Understanding of RF propagation including system link budgets
- Strong understanding of digital communications including modulation and coding, multi-path and fading channels, capacity, receiver performance, MIMO and beam-forming, etc.
- Experience with software tools including Matlab, C programming, TCL or other scripts, automation
- Experience with a variety of laboratory test equipment, including network analyzers, signal generators, vector signal analyzers, power meters, etc.
- Previous experience with data communications test equipment a strong plus
- Previous experience with channel / fading emulators, channel modeling a strong plus
- MSEE preferred, BSEE required
- Entrepreneurial, studious, and energetic mentality
- Startup experience a strong plus
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to make presentations to customers and industry forums.
- 30% travel worldwide including customer travel and industry forums
